Summary

T-cell receptor gamma/delta lymphocytes are found in low numbers in normal conjunctiva but significantly increase in ocular cicatricial pemphigoid, an autoimmune disorder. This suggests a specific role for these T cells in certain eye inflammation and autoimmunity.
