Summary
Diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in heavy drinkers with liver nodules is challenging. Advanced imaging and biopsy can be difficult to distinguish between hyperplastic nodules and early HCC.

- Heavy drinkers with alcoholic liver disease frequently develop hypervascular, hyperplastic nodules.
- Accurate diagnosis requires integrating clinical factors, advanced imaging, and histology.
- Distinguishing between benign nodules and early HCC remains difficult even with advanced techniques.
