    Summary

    Enoxaparin therapy improved brain perfusion in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2). This treatment may help prevent cerebrovascular complications in patients with DM2 or metabolic syndrome (MS) and hypertension.

    Background:

    • Hypertension (AH) is a significant risk factor for cerebrovascular disease.
    • Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DM2) and Metabolic Syndrome (MS) exacerbate AH complications, including impaired brain perfusion.
    • Cerebral blood flow abnormalities are common in hypertensive patients with DM2 or MS.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare brain perfusion in hypertensive patients with DM2 or MS versus those without these conditions.
    • To investigate the effects of enoxaparin on brain perfusion in patients with DM2 and AH.

    Main Methods:

    • Seventy patients were categorized into three groups: DM2 with AH, MS with AH, and AH alone.
    • Brain perfusion was assessed using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
