Background:

  • Pulmonary leiomyomas are rare benign neoplasms originating from smooth muscle tissue.
  • Endobronchial leiomyomas are exceptionally rare, often presenting as incidental findings or with nonspecific respiratory symptoms.

Observation:

  • A 43-year-old non-smoking female presented with a two-year history of cough and sputum production.
  • Imaging revealed a right lower lobe consolidation and a mass obstructing the right middle lobe bronchus.
  • Fiberoptic bronchoscopy confirmed an endobronchial mass, with biopsy diagnosing leiomyoma.

Findings:

  • Histopathological analysis of the biopsy confirmed endobronchial leiomyoma.
  • Surgical resection (inferior bilobectomy) was performed.
  • The patient recovered well with no recurrence at six months post-surgery.
