[An epidemic of dermatitis caused by blanched celery]

An epidemic of a vesicular, peeling rash is described due to occupational exposure to blanched celery at a market gardener. First pesticides (tetrachloroisophthalonitrile) were suspected to cause the epidemic, but later a phytophototoxic dermatitis due to exposure to blanched celery was diagnosed. To prevent phytophotodermatitis protective clothes and immediate packing are recommended.
