Long term results in the treatment of multiple gingival recessions

Exposed root surfaces cause esthetic problems and hypersensitivity to thermal and tactile stimuli. Plastic surgical treatment solves these problems and yields good permanent results. The authors share their experience of the treatment of 30 patients with 186 gingival recessions localized in the lower and upper jaws, frontally and premolarly. The clinico-biometrical studies conducted over a period of 3 to 15 years showed a mean root coverage of 88.48% and in 17 patients the root coverage is 100%. The applied method can successfully deal with multiple gingival recessions in only two visits preserving the periodontium of the adjacent teeth. The surgical technique and the results of its application are illustrated by the results of well-documented cases.
