[Rapid isolation of DNA from human peripheral blood]

A simple method for isolating DNA from human peripheral blood was compared with the routine method which involves SDS-proteinase K digestion. Denaturation of cellular proteins and release of DNA were achieved by means of the addition of guanidium hydrochloride. The amounts of intact high molecular weight DNA and total yields were similar.
