[Pseudoobstruction of the colon following the thoracic surgery]
1Chirurgická klinika 2. LF UK a FN Motol, Praha.
Abstract:
Colonic pseudoobstruction is mainly associated with the abdominal, retroperitoneal and pelvic surgery and its mortality is significantly high. The thoracic surgery as the determinant factor has not been described yet. By that reason we present the case-report of the two 73-year old patients with pseudoobstruction of the large intestine after thoracotomy. In both cases this syndrome required urgent surgery and treatment of the perforation of caecum from distention. On the basis of authors' own experiences certain therapeutic moments are discussed. Although conservative approach is preferred the surgery remains elementary therapeutic procedure.
