Summary
Human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) infection was investigated in Brazilian patients with chronic neurological diseases. High rates of HTLV-I antibodies were found in patients with progressive paraparesis, suggesting a link to HTLV-I associated myelopathy.
