Summary

This study shows myopic keratomileusis combined with excimer laser refractive correction effectively reduces severe myopia. The procedure demonstrated significant refractive reduction and good corneal response with manageable complications.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of myopic keratomileusis combined with excimer laser refractive correction for severe myopia.
  • To assess corneal response to intrastromal photoablation.
  • To examine the relationship between laser pulses and refractive correction.

Main Methods:

  • Thirty eyes of 22 patients with severe myopia underwent the combined procedure.
  • Patients were observed for six months post-surgery.
  • Efficacy, corneal response, and complications were analyzed.
