Area of Science:

  • Condensed Matter Physics
  • Materials Science
  • Quantum Mechanics

Background:

  • Ferromagnetic superconductors are exotic materials exhibiting both superconductivity and ferromagnetism.
  • Understanding charge and spin transport in these hybrid systems is crucial for spintronics and quantum computing.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the phenomenon of charge and spin current pumping in ferromagnetic-superconductor/normal-metal systems.
  • To demonstrate how current pumping can be used to determine the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter.

Main Methods:

  • Theoretical study of charge and spin transport.
  • Analysis of adiabatic changes in superconducting order parameters induced by electromagnetic fields.

Main Results:

Related Experiment Videos

  • Adiabatic changes in superconducting order parameters induce charge and spin currents.
  • These pumped currents are sensitive to the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter (singlet vs. triplet pairing).

Conclusions:

  • Spin and charge pumping serve as a sensitive probe for the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter.
  • The findings have implications for interpreting ferromagnetic-resonance experiments in related systems.
