    Summary

    Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) antigen distribution was similar between bricklayers with and without chromium allergy. This suggests HLA type does not influence chromium contact allergy development in bricklayers.

    Background:

    • Chromium exposure is a common cause of allergic contact dermatitis in occupational settings.
    • Bricklayers are frequently exposed to chromium through cement and other building materials.
    • Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) genes play a crucial role in immune responses and susceptibility to allergies.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between HLA-A, -B, and -C antigen distribution and the development of chromium contact allergy in bricklayers.

    Main Methods:

    • HLA-A, -B, and -C typing was performed on 100 bricklayers.
    • The study included 50 bricklayers with diagnosed chromium contact allergy and 50 healthy controls.

    Main Results:

    • The distribution of HLA-A, -B, and -C antigens was found to be equal in both the allergic and healthy bricklayer groups.
    • No significant differences in specific HLA antigen frequencies were observed between the two groups.

    Conclusions:
