Area of Science:

  • Population Genetics
  • Statistical Genetics
  • Bioinformatics

Context:

  • Allelic polymorphism data exhibits characteristics of closed or compositional data.
  • Traditional statistical methods struggle with the null correlations and non-normal distributions inherent in this data type.
  • The constant row sum property complicates standard analyses like principal component analysis and factor analysis.

Purpose:

  • To introduce a novel nonlinear statistical method for analyzing allelic polymorphism data.
  • To address the limitations of traditional linear methods when applied to compositional genetic data.
  • To demonstrate the efficacy of the

Summary:

  • This study analyzes the distribution and structure of allelic polymorphism data, identifying it as compositional data.
