Pseudoaneurysm in children: diagnosis and interventional management

Background:

• Pseudoaneurysms (PAn) are infrequent vascular lesions, particularly in pediatric populations.
• Often a consequence of iatrogenic arterial injury, PAn diagnosis can be challenging due to delayed presentation and unusual locations.

Observation:

• This study reports on three pediatric cases involving pseudoaneurysms.
• One case involved the epigastric artery, and two involved the femoral artery.

Findings:

• All three pediatric pseudoaneurysms were successfully treated using ultrasound-guided percutaneous thrombin injection.
• This minimally invasive technique achieved complete thrombosis of the pseudoaneurysms.

Implications:

• Percutaneous thrombin injection represents a viable and effective treatment option for pediatric pseudoaneurysms.
• This approach expands treatment possibilities for rare vascular conditions in children, potentially avoiding more invasive surgical interventions.
