Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the characteristics of the rhythmic oscillating complex (ROC) in the avian small intestine.
  • To investigate the occurrence and physiological significance of ROCs in chickens and other gallinaceous birds.

  • Electromyographic recordings from chronically implanted bipolar electrodes in the avian small intestine.
