Silicosis related changes in serum copper.
1"N. Gh. Lupu" Clinical Hospital, Dept. of Clinical Immunology, Bucharest, Romania.
This study looked at serum copper levels in 68 men with silicosis and 35 healthy individuals. Researchers found that copper levels increased as the disease progressed, with the highest levels in stage III patients. The results suggest a possible link between copper and lung damage in silicosis. The authors propose that copper could be used as a marker for disease severity. However, the study does not prove that copper causes the lung changes. More research is needed to confirm these findings and their implications for diagnosis and monitoring.
