Summary
Soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) levels can indicate iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and erythropoietic activity. This study found sTfR levels were higher in beta-thalassemia trait (betaTT) than controls, but could not reliably distinguish betaTT from IDA due to overlapping values.
