Simple solution for urethral caruncle.

Background:

Urethral caruncle, though not a major disease, presents challenges in its removal.
Existing techniques for urethral caruncle excision can be complex.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and evaluate a simple ligation method for urethral caruncle removal.
To provide an effective and less complicated treatment option for urethral caruncle.

Main Methods:

A ligation technique using 1-zero silk was applied to the base of the urethral caruncle in 10 patients.
The procedure was conducted over a 4-year period.

Main Results:

The ligation technique was well-tolerated, requiring no analgesics or anesthesia.
Caruncles detached naturally within 7 to 14 days post-ligation.
Satisfactory healing of the caruncle base was observed.
The method allows for optional tissue pathological evaluation.
The technique necessitates at least one assistant.

Conclusions:

A simple and effective treatment for urethral caruncle has been demonstrated.
The described ligation technique offers a comparable and straightforward approach to managing urethral caruncles.
