Abstract:
Essence of Care and its nine standards were introduced in February 2001 (Department of Health, 2001). These standards require a lot of work from benchmarking groups in clinical areas, and the translation of the national guidance into workable local practice is proving demanding for most organisations. This article describes one trust's use of an electronic toolkit for benchmarking.
