Summary

Electrocavernosography (ECG) reveals distinct electrical wave patterns in different types of erectile dysfunction (ED). These unique ECG signatures, including "silent" for neurogenic and "overactive" for psychogenic ED, aid in diagnosing the cause of ED.

Background:

  • Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition with diverse etiologies.
  • Corpora cavernosa (CC) electrical activity may offer diagnostic insights into ED.
  • Electrocavernosography (ECG) is an investigational technique assessing CC electrical properties.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate if electrocavernosography (ECG) exhibits unique patterns for different types of erectile dysfunction (ED): neurogenic, vasculogenic (arteriogenic and venogenic), and psychogenic.
  • To differentiate between various ED etiologies using ECG findings.

  • ECG was performed in the flaccid phase on patients with neurogenic, vasculogenic, and psychogenic ED, and healthy controls.
