Abstract:
Sterically hindered CpCo stabilized cyclobutadiene complexes 4 were oxidized by ceric ammonium nitrate to yield the dinitratocobalt complexes 5. The thermolysis of 5a and the reaction of 5a with tert-butyl isocyanide as well as NaBH4 is reported.

Stability of Substituted Cyclohexanes
The two chair conformations of cyclohexanes undergo rapid interconversion at room temperature. Both forms have identical energies and stabilities, each comprising equal amounts of the equilibrium mixture. Replacing a hydrogen atom with a functional group makes the two conformations energetically non-equivalent.
