    Summary

    Abdominal surgery can lead to desmoid tumors, which are rare, non-cancerous growths. These tumors can develop near surgical incisions, as seen in two patients following gynecological procedures.

    Background:

    • Abdominal surgery, including hysterectomy and adnexectomy, is a common procedure.
    • Desmoid tumors are rare fibroblastic neoplasms that can arise in soft tissues.
    • Post-surgical abdominal wall masses require careful differential diagnosis.

    Observation:

    • Two patients presented with hard abdominal wall swellings near prior surgical sites.
    • One patient had a swelling 3 years post-hysterectomy and adnexectomy for uterine myoma.
    • The second patient developed a similar mass 3 months after salpingectomy for ectopic pregnancy.

    Findings:

    • Surgical excision of the masses was performed in both cases.
    • Histological examination confirmed the tumors as desmoids.
    • Desmoid tumors demonstrated radial permeation of the fascia and muscles.

    Implications:

    • This highlights a rare complication of abdominal surgery.
    • Desmoid tumors should be considered in the differential diagnosis of post-operative abdominal masses.
    • Further research into the etiology and management of surgical site desmoids is warranted.
