Personality disorder: attitudes, understanding and treatment
1Hull and East Riding Community Health NHS Trust.
Abstract:
People with personality disorder are often stigmatised and dehumanised. This article looks at historical attitudes to the condition and how understanding has developed in recent years, while legislation has failed to keep pace. Although it is often assumed to be untreatable, the authors summarise techniques that appear to be effective in helping people with personality disorder integrate more successfully in society.
