Summary

Radiosurgery and conventional surgery for dermatochalasis both show good outcomes. Radiosurgery demonstrated a trend toward improved wound healing in the initial week post-procedure.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare hemorrhage and wound healing outcomes.
  • Investigate radiosurgery versus conventional surgical techniques for dermatochalasis.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective study involving 13 patients with dermatochalasis.
  • Each patient underwent radiosurgery on one upper eyelid and conventional surgery on the contralateral eyelid.
  • Hemorrhage and wound healing (Hollander score) were assessed by a masked observer at multiple time points.

Main Results:

  • A trend towards better wound healing and higher Hollander scores was observed at 1 week post-radiosurgery (p=0.014).
