Abstract:
Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the bronchial mucosa associated with pulmonary function disorders of varying degrees of severity. The early detection of eosinophil-related mucosal inflammation constitutes both a diagnostic challenge and the key to treatment that may markedly improve outcome. Corticosteroids for inhalation are the first-line anti-inflammatory agents.
