Area of Science:

  • Neuro-oncology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Neuropathology

Background:

  • Hemangiopericytoma is a rare central nervous system tumor.
  • Intraventricular occurrence is seldom reported, posing diagnostic challenges.

Observation:

  • A 55-year-old woman presented with left-sided weakness, gait ataxia, and visual field deficits.
  • MRI revealed a homogeneously enhancing tumor in the right lateral ventricle.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection was performed via right temporoparietal craniotomy.
  • Histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of hemangiopericytoma.

Implications:

  • Clinicians and pathologists must be aware of intraventricular hemangiopericytoma.
  • Radiologic similarity to meningioma necessitates careful differentiation due to differing prognoses.
