Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between cerebral cysticercosis and stroke.
  • To identify cerebral cysticercosis as a potential risk factor for stroke.

  • A protocol was initiated in 1985 to examine stroke patients.
  • 420 stroke patients underwent comprehensive testing, including blood tests, cardiac investigations, angiography, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis.
  • Risk factors assessed included hypertension, diabetes, cardiopathy, dyslipidemia, smoking, alcohol abuse, and cerebral cysticercosis.
