Summary

Occupational exposure to tobacco dust did not increase chronic lower respiratory diseases in Greek workers. However, tobacco dust exposure was linked to upper airway issues like rhinitis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess occupational environment pollution levels in a Greek tobacco factory.
  • To investigate the impact of tobacco dust exposure on the respiratory system of tobacco workers.

  • A cohort of 1,020 tobacco workers in Thessaloniki underwent spirometry, rhinomanometry, and questionnaires.
