Abstract:
Daily monitoring of threshold olfactometry was made in 89 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Measures of Russia. The method proposed for rating results of olfactometry includes rating of the primary results in scores. The use of this method allows detection of significant differences. Wider clinical application of olfactory analyzer investigation is recommended.

Olfaction
The sense of smell is achieved through the activities of the olfactory system. It starts when an airborne odorant enters the nasal cavity and reaches olfactory epithelium (OE). The OE is protected by a thin layer of mucus, which also serves the purpose of dissolving more complex compounds into simpler chemical odorants. The size of the OE and the density of sensory neurons varies among species; in humans, the OE is only about 9-10 cm2.

Quantitative Analysis
Quantitative analysis is a technique for measuring the amount of specific constituents in a sample. When the sample's composition is unknown, qualitative analysis is performed first to identify its components, which ensures that the correct substances are measured during the quantitative phase.
In quantitative analysis, two key measurements are made: the sample quantity and a property proportional to the amount of the analyte (the substance being analyzed). This forms the basis of the method...
