Background:

Psoriatic arthritis is a complex multisystem disease.
Requires assessment of cutaneous and musculoskeletal (axial/peripheral) involvement.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the feasibility of measuring psoriatic arthritis impairment, disability, and handicap.
To identify areas for improvement in measurement techniques and clinical integration.

Main Methods:

Review of existing measurement techniques for psoriatic arthritis.
Assessment of validity, reliability, and responsiveness of current methods.

Main Results:

Existing measurement techniques are largely valid, reliable, and responsive.
Feasible to measure impairment, ability/disability, and participation/handicap.

Conclusions:

Current methods allow for measurement of psoriatic arthritis aspects.
Opportunities exist for developing consensus on core measures, responder criteria, and standardized training.
Further refinement of instruments and integration into routine care are recommended.
