A rare case of primary ameloblastoma in the sinonasal tract was reported in a 66-year-old man. This sinonasal tumor showed a non-aggressive course after surgery and radiotherapy.

Area of Science:

  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Ameloblastoma is a rare odontogenic tumor, typically originating in the jaw.
  • Primary ameloblastoma of the sinonasal tract is exceptionally uncommon, with limited documented cases.

Observation:

  • A 66-year-old male presented with a primary ameloblastoma of the right sinonasal tract.
  • Radiographic imaging revealed a solid mass occupying the right nasal cavity and sinuses, distinct from the maxillary alveolus.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent radical surgery followed by postoperative radiotherapy.
  • A nine-month follow-up indicated a non-aggressive clinical course post-treatment.

Implications:

  • This case contributes to understanding the clinico-pathological features of sinonasal ameloblastoma.

  • The findings support the hypothesis of a sinonasal epithelium origin for this rare tumor.
