Summary

Arndt-type bronchial blockers are feasible for thoracic surgery, offering acceptably short positioning times and excellent surgical conditions in most patients. This initial study shows promising results for elective procedures.

  • To evaluate the feasibility of using Arndt-type bronchial blockers in thoracic surgery.

  • 11 patients undergoing uncomplicated, short-duration thoracic surgery were enrolled.
  • Data collected included patient demographics, surgical details, blocker positioning time, malpositioning events (via fiberoptic bronchoscopy), lung isolation time, surgery duration, and lung collapse effectiveness.
