Summary

Pili multigemini, a rare hair follicle defect, was found extensively on the backs of three healthy males. This study documents the first reported cases of this condition occurring on the back.

Background:

Observation:

  • Three healthy adult males presented with asymptomatic, extensive pili multigemini affecting the entire back.
  • The condition was discovered incidentally during routine examinations.

Findings:

  • Microscopic examination revealed hair follicles with over twenty shafts, characterized by rough surfaces and brush-like bulbs.
  • Histological analysis confirmed complex follicular structures producing 23–36 hair shafts per follicle, each with a common outer root sheath.
