Area of Science:

  • Spectroscopy
  • Combustion diagnostics
  • High-temperature physics

Context:

  • High-temperature bodies like flames emit complex spectra.
  • Emission spectra include lines, bands, and continuous radiation.
  • Spectral lines can overlap, complicating single-line intensity measurements.

Purpose:

  • To address the difficulty of measuring temperature using single spectral line intensities in complex high-temperature environments.
  • To develop an improved spectral method for temperature measurement in flames.
  • To compare the novel method with traditional thermocouple measurements.

Summary:

  • A novel spectral line intensity method is proposed, replacing single line intensity with the total intensity of multiple spectral lines.
  • This approach simplifies temperature measurement in environments with overlapping spectral lines.
