Abstract:
Risk stratification and treatment decision of arterial hypertension is influenced by blood pressure grade, concomitant cardiovascular risk factors, associated clinical conditions and the presence of target organ damage. The general practitioner can completely evaluate many patients without referring them for special investigations. ECG is among the routine practice methods. The sensitivity in detecting left ventricular hypertrophy is low but the specificity is very high. The new ECG parameter Cornell Strain Index with higher sensitivity is presented.
