Intensive computer use by secretaries did not show significant nerve function changes compared to nurses. This study found no early neural deficits in large sensory fibers for computer users.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate potential neural deficits in female computer users (secretaries) compared to non-users (nurses).
  • To compare vibrotactile perception thresholds and nerve conduction in the upper extremities of these groups.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study involving 82 secretaries and 35 nurses (aged 24-65).
  • Nerve conduction measurements and vibration threshold tests were performed on the dominant hand at multiple sites.
  • Tests assessed cutaneous innervation of the median, ulnar, and radial nerves.
