Gay men who have been diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are living longer, healthier lives. As a result, many experience continued sexual interest. This article, based on the author's four years as a support group facilitator for men with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), explores the sexual needs and expression of gay men with HIV infection. Several potential positive functions of a sustained sex life for these men and the factors that inhibit sexual expression are explored.
