Background:

  • Panic disorder is a debilitating condition characterized by recurrent, unexpected panic attacks.
  • Agoraphobia, often associated with panic disorder, involves fear and avoidance of situations where escape may be difficult.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the situational context of the first panic attack in patients with panic disorder.
  • To compare the occurrence of the first panic attack in phobogenic situations between patients with and without agoraphobia.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective investigation of 44 patients diagnosed with panic disorder.
  • Categorization of patients into two groups: panic disorder with agoraphobia and panic disorder without agoraphobia.
