  • Four aerobic isolates were also found: E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and group B streptococci.
  • Three patients had positive blood cultures; one developed osteomyelitis, and two had scalp abscesses.

  • This study underscores the significant involvement of anaerobic bacteria in neonatal infected cephalohematomas.
  • Early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic therapy, including anaerobic coverage, are essential for successful management.
