[Necessity of neurophysiological monitoring in the operating room]
Abstract:
Inadequate anesthesiological appliance that manifests itself as either intraanesthestic awakening or excessively deep anesthesia remains one of the unsolved problems of current anesthesiology. In our opinion, the absence of necessary monitoring and clear criteria for the sufficient depth of anesthesia is a principal cause of inadequate anesthesia. Our experience and the data available in the literature show that only monitoring of the functional activity of the central nervous system (CNS) most fully meets the requirements presented. The inclusion of monitoring of the intraoperative state of CNS provides each patient adequate anesthesiological protection irrespective of the body's individual traits.
