Area of Science:

  • Immunology
  • Bioinformatics
  • Computational Biology

Background:

  • T-cell responses to peptide-MHC complexes are crucial for pathogen recognition.
  • Identifying T-cell epitopes from allergenic or pathogenic proteins aids disease treatment.
  • Celiac disease (CD) research requires robust methods for T-cell epitope discovery.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a comprehensive, non-hypothesis-driven method for screening T-cell epitopes.
  • To create statistical data analysis methods for ELISPOT assays.
  • To identify T-cell epitopes in gluten relevant to celiac disease.

Main Methods:

  • Implemented an algorithm to generate comprehensive sets of short peptide sequences.
  • Utilized the ELISPOT assay for high-throughput T-cell screening in 96-well plates.
