Background:
- Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) leucoencephalopathy (HIVL) is a severe neurological complication of AIDS dementia complex (ADC).
- Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNFα) is implicated in ADC pathogenesis, typically found in macrophages within the HIV-infected brain.
Observation:
- Six patients with rapidly progressive dementia within weeks of HIV infection were studied.
