Background:

  • Behçet's syndrome (BS) can manifest with diverse neurological complications.
  • Headache is the most frequent neurological symptom in BS, occurring independently or related to disease activity.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of various headache types in a large cohort of Behçet's syndrome patients.
  • To differentiate headaches directly related to BS from those independent of neurological involvement.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 228 patients meeting the International Study Group for Behçet's Disease criteria were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire.
  • Patients underwent neurological and physical examinations.
  • Statistical analyses, including chi-squared tests and t-tests, were used to compare frequencies and means, with primary headache prevalence compared to the general population.
