Background:

  • Refractory overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) significantly impacts quality of life.
  • Current conservative therapies are often insufficient for severe OAB cases.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the efficacy of porcine dermis implants for bladder augmentation in women with refractory OAB.
  • To evaluate the impact of this procedure on incontinence severity and quality of life.

Main Methods:

  • Twelve women with refractory OAB underwent bladder augmentation using a porcine dermis implant (Pelvicol).
  • Incontinence severity and quality of life were assessed pre-operatively and at 12 months post-operatively.
  • Follow-up cystoscopy was performed in three patients.
