Bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue (BALT) and nasal-associated lymphoid tissue (NALT) are crucial for immune responses to inhaled antigens. BALT functions similarly to the common mucosal immunologic system, while NALT appears distinct and may exist as diffuse follicles in humans.
