Carbonic anhydrase III is expressed in bovine lens

A highly basic protein isolated from bovine lens has been shown to be carbonic anhydrase III by immunological and peptide sequencing techniques. This is the first demonstration of the presence of this isoenzyme, which is primarily found in skeletal muscle, in the lens or other ocular tissues. The physiological function of this enzyme in the lens is unknown.
