[Lung cancer in elderly patients: clinicopathological features]

Abstract:
The clinicopathological features of lung cancer in octogenarian in Japan, including of our experienced cases, were discussed, in particular, on the surgical treatment, prognosis and postoperative complications. Due to the expanding of life span of Japanese elder people, the surgical indications for the patient with lung cancer over 80 years old have been extended today, and its prognosis seem to be almost similar as the another generations under 80. From now, the surgical option will be adopted more and more for the patient of stage I and II of lung cancer with good performance status.
