Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if birth weight, birth length, or gestational age are associated with the subsequent development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

  • A case-control study utilizing the Marshfield Clinic Lupus Registry.
  • Matched controls (age, sex, race) were selected for each SLE case.
  • Perinatal data (birth weight, birth length, gestational age) were extracted from medical records.
