Abstract:
This past April 22nd, the Council of Ministers gave its definitive approval to the Royal Decree for Nursing Specialties and two weeks later on May 6th, the Official State Archives published the legal document which entered into force the following day. Thus ended a process which Spanish nurses have been fighting for over some twenty years and the profession finally received a legal text which answers what has been our main objective, a requirement whose principal beneficiary is Spanish society. Not in vain, the main objective of our specialties is none other than to provide citizens with maximum quality health care and the highest clinical security possible. A goal which coincides with what is and always will be the principal objective of the profession and of the Collegial Organization of Nursing which I preside over.
