Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the potential relationship between irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and bronchial hyperresponsiveness.

  • Pulmonary function tests, methacholine challenge tests, and skin prick tests were administered to 42 IBS patients and 42 controls.
  • Analysis included standard pulmonary function parameters (FEV(1)%, FCV%, FVC/FEV(1), FEF(25-75)%) and methacholine provocation test results (PC(20)).
